The hot and humid weather came to an end this week with a series of very strong thunder storms. We got 1 1/2 inches of rain in a little over 20mins according to our rain gauge.

It seems I’m not alone in this thought.
I am for doing good to the poor, but I differ in opinion of the means. I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. In my youth I travelled much, and I observed in different countries, that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the
contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer. — Ben Franklin
Been at my new job for several months now and until this week no spam at the new email. (Actually I’ve had the email address for over a year while I was contracting at this company). No spam is a good thing.
But then, you see, I made a mistake. I decided to comment to our government about pending legislation. Normally I limit my letters and email to my state reps. My state appears to believe in Senator for Life so writing my US Senators is a waste of time. This time I went to the top and sent a respectful email to comments@whitehouse.gov.
The next day spam started coming. Perhaps the Whitehouse has found a new revenue stream.
Then again maybe my views are just unwanted.
The good news is my IT guy set me up for mailwasher from www.firetrust.com and poof back to a clean in box. No spam is a good thing.
I’ve found that the older I get, the more disappointed I get with people in power. It could be that I’m reading more news, certainly since 2001 I’ve been a news junkie, and that’s having a strong contribution since it would seem that most news stories are negative rather than positive ones. All that aside though I’ve become increasingly dissatisfied with politicians and law enforcement across the US. The latest example is the prosecutor in the whole Paris Hilton jail time fiasco.
While I was absolutely for Paris Hilton having to take some responsibility in life and do some jailtime, I’ve found that since this story broke the other day I’ve got a bit of sympathy for her. Apparently the LA prosecutor who so strenuously objected to the soft treatment Hilton received when she was initially released after “five” (really 2 and a bit) days in jail had hushed up his own wife’s crash. This has even greater relevance because his wife was also driving while her licence was suspended (the exact same crime that Hilton committed, although Hilton’s was suspended because of a DUI). As a bonus the car the prosecutor’s wife crashed was his city-issued vehicle, which she was driving because she had already crashed her own car. Hypocrite doesn’t even cover it with this one, and its just one more example of people forgetting their own skeletons while they get up on a soap box because that seems to be where the camera’s are always pointed.
Just out playing in the yard on a nice Sunday afternoon.

Oh and the ztr found its home
