Yard work

Filed under: Life — Scott @ 3:29 pm

We got Ed to come back with his crew (down to 2 helpers this year) and build us a retaining wall and do a few odds and ends around the yard.

They started today and so far so good.

There is a lot more room back there than I imagined… I like it when a plan comes together!

Making the world safer by treating everyone like a pedophile…

Filed under: Ramblings — Meg @ 7:38 am

What used to be one of our favorite places to visit has apparently permanently enacted a policy (we first heard of it last year when we went to visit) that “adults must be accompanied by a child 12 years or younger”. See it for yourself here. Yep, since Scott and I made a personal decision not to have children it means we can no longer visit the Davis Farmland petting zoo, way to go folks at Davis…treat everyone like a pedophile to make the world safer…

Suck it AT&T

Filed under: Ramblings, Rants — Meg @ 2:52 pm

Because I’ve been exclusively using a cell phone for the last several years I have strong feelings about the major U.S. carriers and how they “lock” their phone models so that they only work on certain providers. I find it very annoying that I as a consumer am forced to use a particular provider because of the phone model I choose. That’s why I’m cheering for this kid who cracked the iPhone lock with some help and then posted the directions for free online. Sadly someone will take his hard work and find a way to make money off of it, but the kid’s got the right idea and I applaud his hard work and chosen path of open sourcing.

Are we telling children that men are bad?

Filed under: Crazy People, Ramblings, Rants — Meg @ 1:31 pm

This article really got me thinking. I haven’t seen anything like the billboards mentioned but I do feel that society as a whole treats men as more dangerous than women. I find that interesting since I’ve seen women be far more vicious and vindictive on a day to day basis than men. Maybe the issue is that violence as a whole isn’t being looked at honestly, that we’re only pulling physical attack numbers from some database? Where did this attitude come from and what has pushed it so far that it’s just accepted than men are the only dangerous ones?
