Just so sad…

Filed under: Crazy People, Ramblings, Rants — Meg @ 10:16 am

It’s always nicer to write about something good rather than something upsetting but I’m feeling very strongly about the issues these Dutch “parents” must have after reading this story. The gist of it is that a Dutch consul and his wife adopted a Korean baby girl when he was stationed in Hong Kong over 6 years ago. Now that the girl is 7 and the consul is no longer posted in an Asian nation they have given the girl back for re-adoption. I’m just hurt for the girl, enraged at the parents and disgusted that anyone could be so callous. Children are for always, and I can’t believe anyone wouldn’t be able to understand that. Read the story if you’re up for it.

First Snow

Filed under: Life, Ramblings — Scott @ 2:36 pm

Got our first real storm of the season yesterday. The commute started at 2 and didn’t get far. Took Meg almost 2 hours to get home and me almost 1 hour (11 miles). I had the extra bonus of getting stuck 80% up a hill and needing some strangers to help push my car the rest of the way up. I returned the favor and we all got home (well past that hill at least). Time to put 50#s of sand in my trunk.

Woke to about 10 inches. Looks nice out there as the dogs make tracks and enjoy their first snow-saunas of the year.

Expecting more this weekend.

John R. Bolton

dc senate hearing John Bolton 9_1.jpg You know you have to like John Bolton.

He is a straight thinker and says what he means. Its a shame that the current crop of Politicians (from both sides) have given him the shaft.

No longer going natural

Filed under: Ramblings — Meg @ 3:44 pm

So we caved today and ordered an artificial wreath for the front door. We already switched to an artificial Christmas tree a few years back because it came pre-lit, which is just handy, and the dogs seem uninterested in eating it (so far). Guess sometimes man made is just the way to go. At least we haven’t started burning pine scented candles to try and fool ourselves into thinking the greenery is real.
